On September 19, 2019, representatives from Redwood Properties and Boardwalk REIT were joined by local officials and Brampton Mayor Patrick Brown to celebrate the start of construction at 45 Railroad. The Ribbon Cutting Ceremony marked one of the most ambitious high-rise residential projects in Brampton, ON.
Sam Kolias; Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Boardwalk commented: “The housing market in Brampton continues to hurt. The area has very few purpose-built buildings, so finding a reasonably-priced home can be challenging. We want 45 Railroad to be a pain release to Brampton’s housing market.”
As one of the last remaining structures of downtown Brampton’s industrial heritage, the Dominion Skate Building at 45 Railroad Street will be incorporated into the mixed-use residential development. Built by the Copeland-Chatterson Company in 1905, and acquired by the Dominion Skate Company in 1981, the building’s design displays influences of the Chicago Commercial Style or Chicago School. It was the first of its kind to be built in Brampton. The new development will be a nod to the past with parts of the historic structure being rehabilitated and integrated into the one-of-a-kind apartment community.
The two-tower apartment building will feature modern luxury amenities such as a private roof garden and pool, barbecue stations and kid’s area. Other amenities include two cosy lounges, two dining rooms, a catering kitchen, a fully-equipped fitness and yoga studio, bike lockers, car wash, pet washing station and more.
The first and second apartment towers are estimated to be completed in 2022 and 2023 with stabilization of the entire development occurring in 2024. For more information on 45 Railroad Street, including renderings and live updates, visit liveat45railroad.com.
