These initiatives are designed to bring Resident Members and Associates together to support those in need.
December was filled with meaningful acts of kindness that demonstrated the power of core value: Love Always. Whether we’re assembling care packages, donating food and toys, or volunteering time to local charities, our Boardwalk Family continues to drive meaningful change in our communities. Here’s a look back at how we made a difference during this season of giving.
During Boardwalk’s National Week of Caring, Associates were invited to volunteer at a non-profit or charity of their choice during work hours. This initiative allowed our Associates to give back in ways that were meaningful to them, strengthening the bonds between our communities and the broader neighbourhoods we serve.
From volunteering at the Edmonton Food Bank to donating blood and assisting local charities such as JLYS Centre for Families, our Associates made an impact that extended far beyond apartment complexes. Their efforts highlighted the importance of community, reminding us all that small acts of kindness can make a big difference.
In Regina and Saskatoon, the holiday season was made brighter through our annual Toy Drive. Associates and Resident Members came together to collect toys for families in need, supporting Ronald McDonald House and Carmichael Outreach. Boardwalk matched all donations, doubling the impact and ensuring that more children experienced the joy of the season.
This initiative brought our communities together, reinforcing that Boardwalk offers more than just an apartment for rent—it’s home, where neighbours support one another and celebrate the spirit of giving.
In Calgary, Associates organized a Holiday Food Drive in support of JLYS Centre for Families, a non-profit dedicated to providing essential resources such as meals, tutoring, and counselling for women and children in need. To make the event even more festive, teams were encouraged to create creative displays with their donations, adding a fun and engaging element to the initiative.
Through the generosity of our Resident Members and Associates, we helped ensure that more families had access to nutritious meals during the holiday season. This effort reflected the strong sense of community that makes our apartment buildings feel like home.
One of our most heartfelt initiatives, Sharing the Warmth, embodies the true spirit of giving. Each year, our Boardwalk Family assembles winter care packages filled with generous donations from our incredible Resident Members. These packages provide much-needed warmth and support to neighbours facing the challenges of winter.
This year, over 350 families received winter care packages, made possible by the generosity of over 135 Resident Members, whose donations were matched by Boardwalk. This tradition continues to foster a sense of togetherness, making our apartment buildings more than just places to live—they are communities where kindness thrives.
As we reflect on December’s giving season, we are reminded of the power of our Boardwalk Family and the impact we can have when we come together. Whether through volunteering, donating, or simply supporting a neighbour, every effort contributes to a stronger, more compassionate community.
