Are you someone who puts off cleaning your kitchen and lets the dirty dishes pile high? Kitchens are generally the heart of the family home and, as a result, there always seems to be something to clean. Getting into a routine of cleaning your kitchen, will help make the rest of your apartment feel clean too. If you are short on time to clean your kitchen, consider focusing on these five areas.
Step One: Empty the Dishwasher
Start with a clean dishwasher. Your dishwasher should be filled with dishes from the day before, run overnight, and emptied in the morning for a fresh start to the day. If you don’t have a dishwasher, let your dishes soak in warm soapy water, then do a quick rinse. We recommend getting a dish rack so that they’re able to dry more efficiently and timely. Once you get all your dishes out of the way, you’ll see the rest isn’t so bad.
Step Two: Wipe Down Kitchen Counters
This is an important clean-as-you-go area. Spray down your table, and countertops with an all-purpose cleaner and wipe with a cloth. Work from one side of the kitchen to the other. Look for any messes on the cupboards or walls that you can wipe down as you go.
Step Three: Clean Out the Fridge
Getting into the habit of cleaning out your fridge on a regular basis will help you avoid any unwanted surprises as you’ll throw out food before it spoils. A good tip to keep your fridge smelling fresh is to leave a box of baking soda on one of the shelves.
Step Four: Take the Garbage Out
Place all garbage into the kitchen trash and sort any recyclable materials into a pile. Each Boardwalk apartment building will have community blue bins and green bins for you to properly dispose of your garbage and recyclables.
Step Five: Sweep the Floor
You don’t have to mop your floor every day, but sweeping should be done daily or at least every other day, especially if you have small children or pets. This is a fast and final step to ensure your kitchen is feeling fresh daily.
